I was recently at an event in the North Carolina mountains… and found myself driving a very curvy road late at night with white knuckles because I couldn’t see what was ahead. The next day I did the same drive in the daytime and it wasn’t at all stressful.. in fact it was a little exhilarating! I realized that being able to see a bit farther ahead (strategic planning anyone?) took a lot of the tension away because I could see where I was going. Making a plan, comparing to a plan, tossing the plan out and making a better plan provide structure (like a fence for my beautiful lavender) and all keep me focused and less fearful. Less fear is definitely the big plan! The more I use some structural tool, like a strategic plan, to keep me focused, the more I’m able to see that I am getting “there”.. my own personal version of “there”… passionate, productive, persistent, present.
